New Movies!

Sorry for being absent for so long, but I had other things to take care of. So let´s get started with the new movies and the ones that you don´t want to miss!
The Conjuring: This movie goes back in time to 1971, a couple that deals with paranormal activities is contacted by a concern mother that her family is being hunted by spirits in her house. I´m glad to see Lili Taylor back on the scree right beside Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson. This movie will make you twitch and feel goosebumps a few times, the Plot is that Lorraine is a powerful physic and has been affected on previous exorcisms; mentally and physically. Great horror movie which has been rated R for sequences of disturbing violence and terror.

Elysium: We move back to the future to 2154 were the earth population has been split into two, the wealthy; which lives on a space station and the poor; which they reside in the ruins of what once was earth. Anti migration officers enforce the laws to keep this two groups separated. Matt Damon the man with the mission to bring equality to this polarized world. Great cast as Jodie Foster and William Fichtner are in this movie as well.

2 Guns: Two great actors on this movie, Denzel and Mark Wahlberg. Going back to what movies used to be about; money, drugs, sex and guns. Two individuals working for different agencies, betraying each other
they unleashed a survival battle in which they can only trust one another!

Mortal Instruments: New York, New York! A seemingly ordinary teenager looses her mother and finds out the she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, an allegiance of half angels warriors destined to protect the world from demons. On this movies we see a lot of new faces; Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell, Kevin Zegers, Lena Headey and others, which brings a new experience to the youth, this movie has been rated PG 13.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters: We have the sequel based on Rick Riordans´s book in which Logan Lerman goes to the Sea of Monster to recover the Golden Fleece to save the Camp Half-Blood. Great cast and direction of this movie with an excellent special effects work.

RED 2: Bruce Willis back on the screen and this time not alone, the cast along on this movie will make you want to watch it. Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Neal McDonough and others. This movie plot will have Bruce team up with a group of elite operatives to track down a nuclear device that is missing and that could be use to annihilate the United States. Great movie and awesome special effects.

Wolverine: Confusing plot as the immortal Wolverine is laying low just waiting for his time to end. He´s contacted by a Japanese female that has been sent by her boss, an old acquaintance of Wolverine which now is on his death bed. Wolverine is offered to renounce to his powers and make him normal which he accepts.  Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.

Limitless -- Trailer for Limitless
THE BUZZ: Alan Glynn's debut novel shoots onto the big screen courtesy of director Neil Burger (The Illusionist), who surprisingly didn't write the screenplay -- that task went to Leslie Dixon, who of late has been writing middling romantic comedies, mostly (and the Hairspray remake). This is a great opportunity for Bradley Cooper to excite those of us who think his post-Hangover performances are about as cool as Gerard Butler's post-300 career. Here's hoping the costs are kept low, because the subject matter will be a tough mainstream sell, regardless of all the handsomeness and beauty amongst the cast members.
Rango
Rango

Director: Gore Verbinski
Stars: Johnny DeppIsla FisherTimothy Olyphant (Full Cast)
Studio: Paramount Pictures
The Plot: Rango (voice of Depp) is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff.

THE BUZZ: We love that Captain Jack and his original Pirates of the Caribbean director have created a new hero, one centered around Johnny Depp's first motion-capture performance. Furthermore, we smile every time we consider the fact that the film earned a PG rating in part because Dirt's residents tend to smoke and drink. We're advocates of Wild West realness.
Battle: Los Angeles
Battle: Los Angeles

Director: Jonathan Liebesman
Stars: Aaron EckhartMichelle RodriguezBridget Moynahan (Full Cast)
Studio: Columbia Pictures
The Plot: As a full-scale alien invasion threatens the Earth, in Los Angeles, a veteran Marine staff sergeant (Eckhart) leads his new platoon into battle with an uncommon enemy.

THE BUZZ: Warner Bros. is so amped by Jonathan Liebesman's handling of this movie (for Columbia Pictures) that the studio has handed him the reins for Wrath of the Titans (which was sounding promising until recently, when it was announced that the sequel will be converted to 3D like the first movie). Meanwhile, it's been such a sluggish year at the box office, perhaps people have been saving their money for this visual effects heavy bonanza that looks and feels like a first-person shooter.
The Lincoln Lawyer
The Lincoln Lawyer

Director: Brad Furman
Stars: Matthew McConaughey (Full Cast)
Studio: Lionsgate
The Plot: In Los Angeles, Mickey Haller (McConaughey) is a criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car. And while his latest case could be his most high-paying in years, it also brings him close to unexpected evil.

The Lincoln Lawyer -- Trailer 2 for The Lincoln Lawyer
THE BUZZ: I know that author Michael Connelly writes the kind of books my friends' dads read -- and of course his novelBlood Work was turned into a second-tier Clint Eastwood movie. With The Lincoln Lawyer, Connelly and McConaughey both might find themselves at the beginning of a potential franchise; McConaughey knows the value of playing a lawyer (A Time to Kill remains his most successful film), and the supporting cast here is formidable. Let's see what the first trailer looks like ...
Paul
Paul

Director: Greg Mottola
Stars: Simon PeggNick FrostSeth Rogen (Full Cast)
Studio: Universal Pictures
The Plot: Two British comic-book geeks (Pegg and Frost) traveling across the U.S. encounter an alien outside Area 51, and with their unexpected new companion aboard their RV, they find themselves chased by federal agents -- as well as the father of the young woman the trio accidentally kidnaps.

THE BUZZ: We're sure everyone had a blast making this film, and director Greg Mottola is making a career out of road trips and misadventures. After Scott Pilgrim's failure (and don't get us wrong: we love that movie), we're a bit hesitant if such nerdy adventures have a chance outside of their core audience nowadays. Industry-watchers have been rethinking the power and influence of the Comic-Con set, and Paul, which sounds like a pitch direct from San Diego, could join the ranks of perceived non-starters who first generated hype at the event. Really we're thinking and imagining it'll simply be the latest in the beloved Pegg/Frost canon.
Red Riding Hood
Red Riding Hood

Director: Catherine Hardwicke
Stars: Amanda SeyfriedLukas HaasGary Oldman (Full Cast)

The Plot: Set in a medieval village that is haunted by a werewolf, a young girl (Seyfried) falls for an orphaned woodcutter (Haas), much to her family's displeasure.

THE BUZZ: Yes, yes, this is familiar territory for Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke -- right down to the love triangle central to the plot -- but we're looking forward to seeing what classically inspired horror might look and feel like to her. Nice to see Lukas Haas getting consistent work, as he segues from one Warner Bros. film (Inception) to another; he joins one of the more inspired main casts of the year. Both Twilight and Harry Potter fans might be engaged by this tale, whose script made the 2009 Black List.

The Adjustment Bureau
The Adjustment Bureau

Director: George Nolfi
Stars: Matt DamonEmily Blunt (Full Cast)
Studio: Universal Pictures
The Plot: Rising politician David Norris (Damon) falls for Elise (Blunt), a ballet dancer, but mysterious forces -- the agents of Fate itself -- work to keep the lovers apart.

THE BUZZ: Bourne Ultimatum co-writer George Nolfi makes his directorial debut with his loose adaptation of Phillip K. Dick's short story, "The Adjustment Team". Expect the fabric of the real world to be torn apart before we get an idea of what's keeping Emily Blunt and Matt Damon from becoming the sexiest on-screen couple of the year. Thanks to two of the biggest films from last year, ballerinas are in, as are visually effected alternate realities; combine this with lackluster box-office action that past couple weeks and we have our fingers crossed for Damon and Blunt to warp this mystery into a sleeper hit.
Mars Needs Moms

Mars Needs Moms -- A young boy named Milo gains a deeper appreciation for his mom after Martians come to Earth to take her away.
THE BUZZ: A mission to save Joan Cusack? We were intrigued until we saw the first trailer and everything that followed, and the box-office forecast is nightmarish for this adaptation of Bloom County cartoonist Berkeley Breathed's book. Aside from Monster House, Robert Zemeckis's motion-capture obsession is mostly hollow to us.
Beastly
Beastly

Director: Daniel Barnz
Stars: Alex PettyferVanessa HudgensMary-Kate Olsen (Full Cast)
Studio: CBS Films
The Plot: Manhattanite Kyle Kingson (Pettyfer) is young, wealthy, beautiful, and cruel, but he picks the wrong classmate to prank when Kendra (Olsen) casts a spell that turns him into everything he despises. Banished to Brooklyn and informed that the only way to break the curse is to find someone who will love him as he is, a fateful encounter with Lindy (Hudgens), looks to literally and figuratively change his life.

Beastly -- The clip "The Tutor" from Beastly
Beastly -- A featurette for the movie Beastly
Beastly -- Interview: "Neil Patrick Harris On Research For The Role"
Beastly -- TV Spot: Never Ugly
THE BUZZ: Director Daniel Branz follows up the critically appraised, little seen Phoebe in Wonderland with a take on the Beauty and the Beast tale. But teen girls, who clearly are the target market here, might wait for this one on DVD, since the affair looks like a super-sized episode of both "Gossip Girl" and "Smallville" -- which isn't surprising once you realize the newly hatched/already struggling CBS Films (yes, an offshoot of the network) is behind this fantasy.
Hall Pass
Hall Pass

Director: Bobby Farrelly Peter Farrelly
Stars: Owen WilsonJason SudeikisChristina Applegate (Full Cast)
Studio: New Line Cinema
The Plot: Two married guys are given the freedom to engage in a week's worth of extra-marital affairs, though they get a little bent out of shape when their respective wives start having fun on their own, too.

Hall Pass -- Clip: Are You Sure Applebee's Is The Best Place To Meet Girls?
Hall Pass -- Filmmakers Bobby and Peter Farrelly talk about their new comedy, Hall Pass.
Hall Pass -- TV Spot: 7 Days
Hall Pass -- A married man is granted the opportunity to have an affair by his wife. Joined in the fun by his best pal, things get a little out of control when both wives start engaging in extramarital activities as well.
THE BUZZ: This story idea has been kicking around since 2005 at least; first it was at Fox before New Line took control as they nestled underneath the Warner Bros. umbrella. We understand the Farrelly Bros. are half sticking to their usual brand of ribald comedy and half stepping into Apatow territory with their exploration of married maleness. Will Owen Wilson ever write another screenplay?
